Firestone Firehawk GT
Firestone Firehawk GT
I'm looking for a set of summer tires for my 16 inch rims. I have a set of the mini cooper 2005 webspoke rims and want to use these as my summer rims. My exhisting rims are 15 inch 7-Hole mini cooper rims. I have a 2005 Mini Cooper in which I purchased a few days ago. I plan on putting winter tires on the 15 inch rims.
My mechanic suggested Firestone Firehawk GT tires (205/50/16) for summer and a set of Blizzak's (175/65/15) for the Winter. I live in Canada and we do get a lot of snow where I live.
Any suggestions on tire options would be greatly appreciated.

If your not an ultra agressive driver the Firehawk GT's are a great choice. Particiclarly in wet conditions Agreed that Blizzaks Ws60's are the best snow and ice alternative I offer.

Thanks! I did a quick review on Tirerack and since I'm going to be purchasing Winter Tires I think I'll stick to a summer tire rather than the all season. The reviews did not seem to be strong in terms of treadwear for the Firehawks. I've been considering ordering the Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3. The price seems to be a lot better than what I could get in Canada, even considering the extra duties, brokerage fee, etc. If I purchased both a summer set and a winter set from Tirerack would there any discounts on shipping, pricing, etc.? If not I'll likely simply purchase one set now and the other later on.
I've been trying to decide on either the Michelin X-Ice, or the Bridgestone Blizzak WS-60 for winter. Any comments?
I'm not an ultra aggressive driver but I would like something that handles well and has good treadware life.
Are the F1's a good choice for summer? I heard that the Dunlop Direzza Sport Z1 Star Spec and the Dunlop SP Sport Maxx are a pretty good summer tire. However, I like the current price on the F1's (tirerack.com).
Thanks!
