Aero grill installed, redid front stripes, and new wheels!

So I installed the aero grill, finally. Top was simple and easy. Bottom was scary but came out pretty well. Didnt take enough material offf on one side so it doesnt sit quite as flush but it's hard to tell.
I took the stripes all the way down instead of stopping at the hood scoop. soon as i get more vinyl, ill take them down the bumper, too, probably.
and, new wheels! MSW, made by OZ, 17" with Kumho Ecstas. Very nice setup; little comfort loss, excellent handling improvement, good cosmetics!

Now, advise: The hood scoop looks kind of off now... should i get it painted black? if so, satin black or gloss? The beltline is getting blacked out sometime in the next couple of days and the gas cap and handles will be in the next couple weeks...

Maybe it's all in how you look at it. I think it looks great as is!

IMHO, sometimes we don't know when to say when...

Looks good. You'll have an aero kit next. That's what happened to me.

for the hood scoop: i'm really just on the fence with it. I think it looks good but, at the same time, i wonder what it would look like black... need to photoshop it

as far as the stripes: got those from mightystripes. Great product, quick shipping. Even sent me a little extra, which was good because i tried putting the stripes on the hood, myself, first. it was a disaster. so i was happy to have a little extra so the professionals could use it

And yes... prolly will end up with an aero kit. at LEAST sideskirts, but probably front bumper at the least, too. That's just a lot of money. Can usually find the kit for under 1k, but painting it would be another 1k at least, i figure. I'm in the military: we just don't get paid THAT much.

Great color combinations. The peper white looks amazing with the green stripes.

Plasti-Dip your hood scoop black I'm on a Plasti-Dipping frenzy right now. It's a nice "rubber" satin black feel, and can be removed (supposedly) I just did it to my gas cap. The door handles are next.

Go to your local Lowes/Home Depot (I heard Home depot has more color options) and pick it up in the rattle can form. It took me about 5 coats to get it just right (30 minutes between each coat). Let sit for 4 hours, and you're good to go

www.plastidip.com you can buy spray or dip versions. you can also brush on if you add a little bit of paint thinner.. im on the same boat as skillet. i've plastidipped my headlight rings, scoop, gas cap, door handles, all my interior trim rings, and downtubes. I think i should invest in this company..

but yes, spray the scoop with it...if u dont like it, dig a hole in it with your nail, and peel it off...good as new.

Doode, I need to get some of that plastidip stuff.

How durable is it of you can peel it off with a finger nail? I might use it on my front grill and rear boot handle.

I got some overspray on the can lid (used it as a stand when painting) and it took some effort (and I mean some effort) to rub/pull it off. I'm not worried about this as beeing an issue.

its very durable as it is designed to coat tool handles. also, durability depends on how many coats you put on. its easy to peel off, as long as you can find one corner or spot to pick at so you can pull on it. but on a totally covered surface, you'd have to cut into it in order to find some to grab on to.

Skillet your gas cap looks AWESOME! Dude that looks just like it was wrpped in vinyl...wow I gotta go pick me up some of that stuff. Have you been able to compare it to anyone who has gotten things such as headlight rings or door handles wrapped in vinyl to see how it matches up in color? I'm also wondering if you can paint over it. I'm thinking spray my headlight rings with the plasti-dip in black and if I dont like the look and want to go body color...get a can of Hyper Blue spray from Minspeed and go right over it. If I dont like that I can just peel it all off and go back to chrome...what do ya think??

Any sanding of the chrome gas or other pieces? or is it just straight on spraying?

Why thank you I can't take credit for this though. I followed in someones foot steps... But anyways, it's a piece of cake to do. I just went over it with alcohol on a paper towel, let dry, set up my make-shift "paint boot" and put on 4 or 5 coats (30 minutes between each coat). I have a tendency to spray things very lightly, so that's why it took a little more time. In all honesty, I probably could have put 1 or 2 more coats on it, but I think it looks good enough.

I have not had the opportunity to see how it matches up to a satin/ flat black vinyl... I have a shiny vinyl decal on my car, and you can tell a difference. This is a nice satin/rubber feeling paint. I wouldn't be surprised if you could shoot some body colored paint on it... Give it a shot. My ca was a little over $5. Well worth it in my opinion.

Hopefully, one of these days, I'll be brave enough as Snyper, and pull my door handles off. Until then, I'm thinking of just masking and shooting them on the car...

Just pray I wiped with alcohol just to try and clean up the gas cap (if there was anything on it to begin with...)

Thats awesome Skillet....I'm assuming (*crossing fingers) that the paint holds up better, from road debris, than other paint sprays?

Thanks Skillet for the tips. I'm definitely going to pick up a can of that stuff and do my gas cap and then redo my side repeaters cuz I used crappy dupli-color trim paint and it flakes off almost as fast I get them installed back on the car

As far as I'm concerned now, it'll hold up just great. Have you ever held a pair or pliers in your hands that had the rubber on the handles? It feels like this! I'm very optimistic about it, and if it does chip or something, peel it off, and do it again
