Webb Motorsports (the company formerly known as MINI-Motorps
OK, so some big things have been going on here. Some preliminary data until I can get all the pics and numbers in place:
New Name
Webb Motorsports will be reintroduced under the new name by having a social gathering here at the shop, and more importantly, some major changes. We are hiring a shipping and receiving dedicated employee, the website is being totally revamped to provide all new product content, as well as a facelift, and a phone line dedicated to orders is being established, as well as the tech line which will still put you through directly to me. Expect to see some more new propaganda as well - shirts and stickers with a new design (COOPERation).
UUC Exhaust
The UUC system is here and undergoing evaluation. Looks VERY nice, but there are some differences in this unit and the originally advertised piece from them - it is 2.25" to the cans (and Ys very nicely to go into the two mufflers) then comes out of the cans at 2". Numbers to follow early next week after a few runs on different days have been done. Prelims look promising...

Alta Exhaust
The Alta exhaust system will be tested next week - a single sided (read lightweight), 2.5", dual oval outlet, fully polished stainless system.

Milltek Exhaust
The Milltek exhaust (not the header, the cat-back) has been on the car and tested. The fit and finish can be called, um, adequate. That's the bad news. The good news is that it was 2 horsepower down on the Magnaflow, but 2 ft-lbs of torque up on the Magnaflow. I believe backpressure is the reason. The unit is 2.5" off the cat, then splits at the back (it IS a two sided system) into a 1 3/4" (!) pipe to and from the very small mufflers. For comparison, another set of runs were done comparing the Magnaflow to the stock system. On a car with most of the available mods done, the system made 9 horsepower and 5 lb-ft over stock. The Milltek made 7 hp, but 7 lb-ft of torque as well.

Alta Intake
The Alta intakes finally have hoses here - red and blue.

Intercooler Development
New intercoolers are being made as I write...

Some of the latest testing being done - the thermocouple is now internal on the outlet side of the intercooler.

Brake Systems
A new brake system is nearing the end of its development - look for some prelim pics and data soon.
Nitrous Oxide
A radical NO2 system with full control will be tested here on track and autocross within the next month. Another similar system may be available from another manufacturer as well which would also be tested. I won't be doing "hit the button" systems, but rather throttle position or as needed systems with full control and protection. LOTS of development and testing will be done before these are available for the general market.
Aquamist Water Injection
Testing on the Aquamist water injection system is being done for a pulley equipped car.
Cowl Scoops
The cowl scoops to direct air for positive pressure in the rear bonnet space for the air intakes will also be ready very soon. Those, along with a new header system, are being manufactured here in the US.
Plasma Booster
The M7 plasma booster is on the car and will be dyno'ed Tuesday. The unit is very easy to install and looks pretty trick. I honestly don't feel anything yet, but the dyno may say differently. From the numbers I've seen so far, it would make sense that I don't feel anything anyway - it's tough to feel 1-2 horsepower. Watch for more possible pieces from M7 through Webb Motorsports...

H-Sport
The H-Sport tubular bar will be finalized and shipped within two weeks now that the final and complete testing has been passed. H-Sport camber plates are also now in stock and available. These units will be featured in a separate evaluation thread shortly. They have pros and cons, but are a good product in that they function as advertised to this point under some pretty strenuous track testing.

ECU Developments
Evaluation on the ECU front is as always ongoing, with the AMD unit scheduled to arrive shortly. Powerchip is also making progress with development - the switchable programming nearing production, as well as possible track programming for 100 octane track days. I also will have several serial programming kits here at the shop to loan directly to avoid any backlog. Powerchip now has the programming kits in stock, so there are currently no backlogs. EVOTech is also now coming to market with a new upgrade in the near future. I still haven't heard from GIAC yet on available product, but when that comes available, it too will be tested.
New Head
Headwork, while expensive, is still the last frontier. So far, it doesn't seem there are any monster gains to be had, but the best gains out there will be available soon (larger diameter valves and good porting). When used in conjunction with the Schrick cam, some gains are being had. Also now available are the Denso plugs in one colder heat range for pulley equipped cars (not necessary, but available).
Big Bore Kit
Another big labor job, and probably a very small niche (but I have to keep pushing!) product will be tested most likely over the winter - big bore kits using high quality pistons and rods. We are looking at 1.8 and 2.0 kits, with the gearbox being our biggest concern.
Clutch and Lightweight Flywheel
Clutch and flywheel development and evaluation have started and will include the Tilton and Spec set ups. Now we are talking about some serious labor! Expect a 20 page how-to on that one!
Alliances
As some of you know, the alliances continue. Webb Motorsports has built alliances with most if not all of the MINI suppliers out there to provide you with exactly the right parts. That includes, in no particular order, Alta, MINI-Madness, Mini Mania, Helix Minisports, RSpeed, BMP/PROMINI, Moss Motors, Magnaflow, Borla, UUC, H-Sport, Powerchip Group, Milltek, M7, Cat and Dog, Perfect Power, Cooper Flags and manufacturers that produce some of the Webb Motorsports exclusives. We are continuing to pursue new avenues, including some european and british companies. Anyone that has the best stuff - including something that supercedes any of my own designs, will be carried to provide the best products to the community.
Autocrossing and Motorsports
We also are still doing great on the autocross front, with the title now clinched in BMWCCA. Last weekend we took a 2nd in CS and the win and 3rd in BS. Look for some results at SCCA nationals in Topeka this year as well - Vince Bly, Richard West (and his co-driver), and the Team MCO car will represent the Webb Motorsports banner. We will also have a car in the Targa Newfoundland driven by Harold VonLangstorff. Work also continues in GrandAm competition. Next year, a full assault on the Street Modified SCCA class is planned, along with a move to the top of the heap - A class - for BMWCCA. We are also working on developing a regional SCCA race class for the MINI, details still being explored. That may take the form of a spec class, or a class with specific mods (though not aftermarket manufacturer specific).

The Big News
And the biggest news, and why I have been conspicuosly absent as of late - my wife and I had our baby girl last week! Caitlin was born 8/19 at 7:29pm. She was a 9/9 apgar (for those of you who knows what that means) and weighed in at 7lbs 6oz. Mom and baby came home on Friday last week and are both doing fine (other than total sleep deprivation). We have three boys, so she'll be well protected!
Mom before the birth:

Baby Caitlin:

Thanks for the continued support during all of these trying legal times and with the growing pains (thanks to all of you for that too!). Once all of the name change and website stuff is out of the way, new personnel are on staff, and the removed pressure of waiting for the baby, we can get back to even more work! We are striving to make customer service and top products the priorities. That includes follow up calls, plenty of product in stock, and dedicated phone lines to avoid not getting to messages. I look forward to working together with the entire MINI community to make this car the most fun ride you can get.
Watch for the new how-tos and product evals in the next two weeks, as well as the new website launch!
