R56 What is the 30K Service?
What is the 30K Service?
So we have over 26K on the odo and the computer is indicating a service in about 3,000 miles at around 30K. But looking through the list of maintenance items on the computer, nothing is due to be replaced. According to the computer, oil isn't due to be replaces for another 12K miles
So what exactly happens at the 30K service? Just a peek under the hood to check the belts and fluids?

They gave ours a good once over, checked fluids, brakes and changed the oil. Answered a few questions we had and did a little warrenty work (S molding on driver side is loose). They ordered the part.
They'll change the oil. (Good thing, too, since there will be ~11k on it by the time the service comes due).
I think the maintenance schedule is the same for the R56 as the earlier cars (i.e. "oil service" first, then "inspection I", then another "oil service", then "inspection II"). So you're probably coming up on "inspection I".
If I recall correctly, the only item that gets replaced as part of "inspection I" (other than the oil and filter) is the cabin air filter.

Just got done talking to the SA and here's the deal: there is no 30K service interval. There is no longer "Inspection 1" followed by "Inspection 2". With the new R56s everything is "condition based service" off the MINI computer.
So in 3K miles all I get is an inspection checkup of the vehicle. Nothing gets replaced or changed unless there is a problem. The next MINI oil change is not for another 11K miles, which kind of sucks because it will exceed the 36K MINI Maintenance plan.
MINI wants me to run my oil for 19K miles, they must be on crack.
