Parts guy at the local MINI dealer said that mineral oil works great for cleaning the interior as well as the exterior plastic. I'm wary of course...

Has anyone else heard of this or tried it?

 

I too would be rather wary. Mineral oil gets sticky as it dries - sounds like a dust magnet in the making.

 

What was the context of his comment though?

He might have meant that it was good in the sense that others have praised peanut butter and peanut oil for cleaning the exterior trim of wax residue (?)

(Using it on the interior is a different matter.)

 

Sadly I dunno. My girlfriend was buying some valve stem caps for my new MINI and mentioned cleaning supplies, and the guy mentioned the mineral oil option. I'd never heard of using it, and honestly, I'd rather just go for something that some poor chemist slaved over to get right rather than the "alternative" options. Just thought I'd check to see if anyone else had heard of or tried it.
