My cheap way to blacken WHEEL ARCH FENDER FLARE

hey all, i am not sure if this has been tired before but i experiment with my MINI and it worked.

i want to black out my WHEEL ARCH FENDER FLARE but cant afford the ones online.. so i look around but no one sell the perforated/translucent vinyl in my area. So i went to craft store and the clerk told me to get those in my pictures..the tough part is getting the right shade of black...the orange can still be seen when i swtich it on cos this is translucent but appear black when lights not switch on

TOTAL COST = $11.25

what you think?

I just spray painted mine with a light coat of matte black. matches the flare and is light enough to let the light through

Should sand them smooth first...
So does that stuff hold up to the weather and UV? Looks like light tint that they use for strobe lights and stage lighting. Looks pretty good though. I bet from a couple steps back they blend right in.

How did you get the reflector out? I tried 3 times, do I need to take the wheels off to access the pastic screws?
