Anyone wanna go represent?
Anyone wanna go represent?
Mike Renner (BMW Performance Center) asked me to find out if there would be any MINI interest in this event. We'll need fast cars and pretty cars, anyone?
please see the message below.
The Hilton Head Concours scheduled for the end of October and early November is planning on utilizing the Indy Lights track that was built on Hutchinson Island in Savannah for this year's track event. On Thursday & Friday (Oct 30 & 31) they are planning "track events" at the Hutchinson Island track across from downtown Savannah - gymkhana, sprints, autocross, perhaps hot laps with factory drivers in Porsche and BMWs. The Car Club Jamboree is on Saturday in Hilton Head. They are in the process of sending me more specifics about an event they're planning to autocross BMW's versus Porsche versus Audi versus, etc. I'll let you know more as I learn more. In the meantime, check out these links for video of Mike Renner diving the new M3 around the track a few weeks ago. It will give you a good feel for the track's width, length, and curves.

Dang, much as I love MINICHI, she's not fast or pretty! ;-) Others are, though and it looks like a blast.
I rode with Mike at the BMW PC, in an M6--the fastest I've ever been on a road course, sanctioned or otherwise. I thought he had a heart attack and we missed the first turn--it's called late braking! ;-)
BTW, I love the flame throwing, wheelie popping, bucket toting, Chebbie powered monster in the second video!
