My tires were made in the first week of 2007. My sister's are still mounted on the original holie rims, 5th week of 2002 (>_<)

 

If you buy tires from a major source usually they are not more than about 6 months older than the date of manufacture.

Don´t assume that all four tires are made at the same date.

Cheaper clearance tires could be older stock. I´ve seen that quite a bit.

 

Nobody else is going to weigh in on this critical issue?

 

In my experience, minihune is correct. 95% of the time, it is the clearance, $25 tires that are the oldest tires. The vast majority of us here seem to purchase a mid grade tire at the minimum, so you don't have much to worry about.

 

This is a real concern. I'm not a fan of government mandates, but I think this needs to be addressed.

Yes more than likely the real cheap deal tire may be an old one. Those old tires should not be sold, period.

I for one will be checking date codes on any tires that I buy from now on. I've checked all of our cars & we are OK, but the ones on the Miata are getting old.
