Unfortunately in California we are required to have a front license plate, or pay tickets....

My question is about the front license plate holder. I have a Dark Grey paint and they gave me a generic black plastic holder to attach to the front bumper. Is this normal?

Does anyone have one that is the same color as the MINI paint? It just seems like it will not look nearly as integrated since parts of the holder extend further than the license plate itself?

Just curious if I got cheated...

Thanks!

There are three front bumper designs.

On the MC there is a wider front bumper opening in the bumper that will fit europlates. Nice design.

On the MCS there is no bumper opening. You have a black plastic rectangle holder that screws into the bumper.
There is a standard version and I think a thinner aero version. The holder can be mounted mid bumper on slightly lower so it doesn't block the grille on the front bumper. your choice.

On the aerokit bumper there is a nice lower fitting aero license plate holder that is often painted the same color as the bumper when you get your aerokit fitted and painted.

And in Europe for the MCS there is a wide Europlate plastic black license holder.

Take your pick.

MCS with regular holder in middle position

MCS with regular holder in lower position (doesn't hide bumper grille)

MCS with Europlates

MC with Europlates

MC with regular plate (note europlate opening)

It looks like the MCS black plastic one I received is standard.

Thanks for the photos!

if you have to run a front plate i suggest getting the license plate holder that normally would go on the aero kit - it is like the pic of the regular plate holder in the lower position above but it fits the plates exactly with no extra showing over unlike the stock s holder which is too short and too wide and looks horrid in my opinion.
