I've searched the threads for this question and haven't seen it addressed. Does anyone know if the JCW Kit is approved for installation by C.A.R.B. (CA Air Resources Board) I'm assuming that it is since it is a BMW factory part, but usually there is a statement on performance kits about the item being "C.A.R.B. Approved" for on-highway use in CA

There's nothing in the published brochures, JCW Kit promo at MINIUSA.Com, or at the Cooperworks web site about it. BMW says it can be installed by any US Dealer, but what will the "Smog Police" say when you go to get a smog check? Will it pass smog but flunk the visual test?

Anybody know if it needs a CARB number; or because it's a Dealer Option, it doesn't need one? Thanks

There is no visual difference that any inspector could recognize. I've had mine for a couple of months now and with the exception of you noticing the silver air-diverter instead of black everything else is internal.

I just passed the break-in andmy thoughts in a very few words "SeeYa!"

How does it feel? Getting close to my date

There is also that bigger exhaust which could be a clue to the Works kit

Actually I kept by Borla SS. The one with the kit has big tips (that just slide on by the way) but the actual tubes are about 1 3/4" or maybe 2" at the most! I just gave it a mechanic at the dealer. Besides the smog guys are only inspecting the "cats" and their on the exhaust manifold/header not the exhaust system.
