Nuvi 200 or...
Nuvi 200 or...
I already have the ParrotEVO & the iPod interface installed. I'd like to purchase a GPS unit but I don't need MP3 or Bluetooth.
Any recommendations?
Any warnings?
Thanks!

I'm extremely happy with my Nüvi 360, and I know they can now be had for just a little bit more than the 200. It does have MP3 and Bluetooth, which you said you don't need, but it also has the traffic feed, text-to-speech, and is expandable should you ever want to take it out of the country. It's just a more robust unit all around.
In any case, I've owned TomTom and Garmin, and I prefer the Garmin hands down.

I would *really* advise against the Nuvi 200, if only for the fact that it doesn't have the text-to-speech conversion for speaking street names. There's a world of difference, information-wise, between hearing "turn right in 500 feet" and "in 500 feet, turn right on Main street".
I don't think any of the models in the 200-series have text-to-speech, so I would look at the nuvi 350 or 360 as a good option. I have the 660, and my wife has the 350, and we've both been very happy with them.

I just went to the Garmin website to compare those two models...
I'll probably get the 360 so that Robert can use the unit in the Ford Escape so he can take advantage of the Bluetooth option.

You're welcome - I would still check out the Garmin site and then compare prices before deciding on the 350/360. With all of the new models they've come out with in the last few years, I don't know what the price difference is between the 350/360 and the wider-screen 600/650/660, and if you can get the larger screen for only a few dollars more, that might be something to consider.
No prob.
Actually, I found that the wider screen was more cumbersome in the Mini vs the 360. It's also not as easy to carry if you are (gasp) traveling sans vehicle. Of course, that's just my opinion.

I don't have any problem with the wider-screen 660 in the car. I got the dash version of the Kuda mount:

As for carrying it outside the car, I have a habit of dropping stuff - a LOT, so I made up a custom hard-shell case for it. So, it's even bulkier than just carrying it around in its softcase, but I don't have to worry about dropping it (even off a cliff into raging water). It's hard to tell from the second pic, but the foam is actually flush with the face of the GPS - there's a rectangular cutout in the foam that's the same size/shape as the GPS.

I was just thinking since Erika has Parrot, Phone, etc, that the wide screen might just add to the clutter.
That's a slick mount for your Nuvi. Where did you get it? Do you have a link by any chance?
Thanks,

I have the nuvi 360 and I purchased the OEM mount and installed it myself. This mount puts the unit to the left of the tachometer and supplies power. It is lower than the Kuda mount, and not as visible when you remove the unit.

'08 MCS on order
I've had a Nivi 750 for a few months. Great unit. Better antenna set up then the 600 or 300 series units. More compact, same great interface. The price has come down considerably since I bought it when it first came out.
I went from the Garmin nuvi 360 to the 660 and finally the 760.The nuvi 760 I bought from Costco for $349.99 on sale.I do use the Bluetooth and sometimes the MP3.
So I would say get either the nuvi 350 or 360 and you should be very happy with it.
Oh and if you have a Best Buy in your area you can save $50 off any Garmin GPS unit with this printable coupon.YMMV
Also if you don't have a BB Rewards Zone card you can sign up right there in the store for free and get one.

Just got home from Best Buy...bought the 350 because they don't carry the 360. If you can get the link to work, that'd be FANTASTIC! It's killing me to NOT open the box...but $50 is $50!
BTW I clicked the link I posted after you mentioned not being able to get the link to work and at first I did see "Forbidden 403" or something to that effect so I rechecked my favorites where I have it and it does display the coupon now.Very strange though why it would do that.
Anyway here is the coupon again:
