can you mate the 6spd tranny to the base mini engine at all or with little work?

 

For now it's cost prohibitive to do something like that. However, if you really want a getrag there will be a Getrag 5-speed in a cooper in 2004. According to an article on Gabe Bridger's great site, MINI will be changing the existing box in the Cooper over to the Getrag unit.

If you have not bought a MC yet then there will be more options for transmissions in the future.
I saw a 6 speed getrag transmission for $5272.50 from MINImania

They say that it can be added to a MC or MCS. It is a stock MCS 6 speed replacement tranny.


Plus labor costs-makes it kinda pricey.
Might be better to wait for more options.
