Wheel Arch Scratch at PDI Question

Hi Mini Coupe Folks,

I will be taking delivery of my Mini tomorrow afternoon so I went by the dealer to give it a look today. There is a small (a bit under an inch) scratch on one of the front black plastic wheel arches. The car has not yet been PDI'd. Do you think that it is possible that the scratch will be remedied at PDI ? I know I have had paint scratches buffed out before delivery but is the vinyl wheel arch material buffable or will this require that the arch be replaced ?

Thanks for any feedback .

I guess it depends on the depth of the scratch.

I had 1 on my rear left wheel arch...noticed it at delivery...they said they could try and buff it out, but I was too excited to go drive to worry about it haha...its not even there anymore just from washings getting it out, but mine was more a scuff than a scratch

Goodluck and don't worry they will fix it no matter what

PDI?

If you haven't taken delivery, point out the scratch. Mini will replace the part. I had a scratch on the rear black trim on the very bottom of the bumper (2-3"), and a scratch on the piano black trim on the drivers door (.5"). My MA took note of these on a green form, "Quality Certification I" form. I asked what would happen with these scratches, without any hesitation my MA said Mini will order the replacement parts and install them for free.

Yeah, a (.5") or less than an inch seems trivial when its you who did the damage, but before pickup I figure the ball is in my court

The small scratch on the piano black was not even noticeable unless it was pointed out. But I didn't argue with them wanting to replace it for free. The scratch on the back was bad. I know they did it as I inspected the car before they prepped it when it arrived off the truck.

My new Mini had one tiny indention in the roof, like a single piece of small hail. I'm just going to live with it.
