R50/53 DOOM AND GLOOM
although this site can be very informative and fun,it is kinda like the evening news, there is alot of doom and gloom, and you just gotta leave it off for a looooong time
I totally agree...especially of late. Unfortunately, my efforts to turn the tone of the site appear to be falling on deaf ears. In addition to the issues the site is facing with BMW I am also having to take punative action to get people to stop personal attacks. I'm not sure what has happened this Summer but I'm having to spend a huge amount of time trying help people understand what is expected on this site (see our site guidelines). As I've posted elsewhere if people continue personal attacks, I will give them one warning....if they continue their account will be deleted. If you can't live by our simple guidelines...its simple...you aren't welcome on MCO.
After I posted the legal issue news people have been asking how they can help. Well....for right now...the best thing you can do is to get rid of the negative tone that is on the site. Everyone needs to do their part!

well said!
i thikn personal attacks shouldnt be tolerated on any site, much less a happy go lucky site like the mCO
I used to read almost all of the posts on this site. Now I find myself being more selective. I feel there's a couple reasons for the change in my reading habits.
First, since it's the subject here, the "doom and gloom" aspect. I think a lot of this has just come about recently with the legal problems MF's having keeping the current site up and running. MCO has turned into a home away from home for a lot of the people on it and most of them equate BMW's legal wrangling akin to a home invasion. Another small part I feel is attributed to school's being out for the summer and an increase in young testosterone vocalizing through the anonimity of the web.
Second, after being on the site for a while, I've grown tired of reading about new people having the same old problems or asking the same old questions. I'm not faulting anyone, and I'm not saying you shouldn't post them. I'm just saying I'm don't want to read about anymore stress cracks, coolant bottle leaks, or various rattles that have been covered in a lot of previous threads. There's a very good search system on the site. I wish people would learn to use it!
