How to remove ebrake center console
I've looked around NAM and can't find any threads about this so here goes...
I bought a used armrest at MOTD but it had no install instructions. This is the kind that mounts by 2 bolts through the bottom of the rear cup holder in the center console. I need to find out how to remove the console so I can install the armrest. Any help gratefully appreciated.

Not sure about the 1st Gen console, but here is a write-up on my experience with the 2nd Gen console. I installed a Redline leather shift boot and eBrake boot in my R56 MCS. There is a link on that page to Redline. They may have a write-up for 1st Gen MINIs.

I've done the same recently, but it's not as easy as you would think. The centre console is made up of two main parts. The centre console you can see, and the plastic 'chassis' underneath it bolts to. Now the plastic chassis for the armrest console is different to the plastic chassis for the centre console without the armrest. So if you bought an Armrest console, and it didn't come with the bottom piece, or chassis, you'll end up buying that too.
Removing the existing centre console is quite easy. Remove the rubber spill mats from the storage area under the ebrake, and from the interior of the rear cupholder. Remove the 2 screws hidden by these mats. Pull up and lift out the ebrake gaiter, and there are two bolts down in the innards of the console that need to be undone. Use a plastic tool to remove the runflat switch, and disconnect it's loom. Then it all just lifts out!

I messed it up
I tore the vinyl ebrake cover trying to get it out and now need a new one.
Any ideas where I can find a replacement ebrake handle cover???
I just ordered new leather boots from Redline. Solves my problem.

No, I have a facelifted R53. If you don't have the little storage area under the ebrake, you have a pre facelifted R53. If that's the case, the instructions are almost identical, but just ignore the bit about the storage bay under the eBrake. When you fit the OEM armrest centre column in it's place, you will then have a storage area under your ebrake, as the OEM armrest was only available post facelift.
