ECU MOD: JCW, Alta, or Other?

My car was ordered last Friday and I can still make changes for another week or so. I initially wanted to get the Alta pnp system, but in light of the recent and continued problems listed here, I am wondering if the JCW kit is indeed a better/safer way to proceed.

I am no stranger to ECU mods, and have successfully modded 2 other turbo cars I've owned. It seems car manufacturers are getting smarter about ECU/DME security & logging now, and I don't know if it's safe to mod anymore.

I hate to pay the extra cash for the JCW system, especially if I'm going to swap out the exhaust anyway, but it seems like the only sure bet at the moment.

Any word on the Alta's stability?

What about other brands?

Granted there have been misc postings about issues with the referring to the unichip. There were some problems early on with the Harness, safe to say those are long gone. There have been some issues related to install, broken wires, etc. and as of late issues with the Alta intake tube collapsing under boost. The tube collapsing is a testament to how well the chip works... too much suction.

I am estatic with my chip, and there are many, many others who have put many trouble free miles on theirs.

Go with the Alta chip, you won't regret it.

No one else has had a product on the market long enough for anything to show up yet.

some JCW users are looking to the Alta chip for tuning as well.
