Had new Cooper S two weeks - tow hook cover falls off

Having fun with the Cooper. Wonder what got the tow hook cover to fall off so easily.

You sure it fell off? When I picked up my MINI, the tow hook covers were stored with my key fobs and owner's manual, because the MA said people were coming onto the lot and stealing them.

On my R56, the front bumper tow hook cover was a bit sloppy, but it wouldn't just fall out. Even if it was popped open, there is a catch cord to keep it tied to the bumper so it doesn't disappear. It sounds like yours might have been defective or improperly installed at the factory.

Those catch cords are flimsy as well. If use just once you'll almost need to install a new catch cord every time. They are about as good as the small plastic piece use to tie price tags onto clothes. I lost a tow hook cover and the dealer mailed me another one, no charge.

It was on when I got the car. After taking it in for service, I noticed it was gone the next day. I had to give the service department a 4 out of 5 on one of their surveys. The service manager was upset about it, but they didn't have the armrest in stock and didn't call me to reschedule. I drove over an hour in a downpour and only got the sunroof decal installed. I'm having them ship me the armrest and new tow hook cover so that I can install it myself. I'm not driving all the way over there again.

You think they were upset about a 4? Try giving them a 1 and a 2!! I got a personal bitching-out from the (BMW/MINI) service manager.
