Clay Bars rock!

I have some really bad stuff on my back hatch / bumper, which I guess is a common MINI thing.

I went to detailers paradise, got some wax and some mag cleaner. Guy there was real nice, even after my dog lounged after his. (mine is a little jack russell, so don't think that dog couldn't pummel mine), he didn't try to oversell me. Cool. After his suggestion, I used denatured alcohol to get rid of the tar, but it didn't all come off. And I was really worried I was going to ruin the look. So I went to try a clay bar after watching this Meguiar's how to. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yfEfLGL59GI and this from another web: http://www.classicappreciation.com/i...&id=1&Itemid=2 .

I bought some from the local Checkers. I got Mother's. It was really easy to do, and does my MINI feel silky smooth. You can actually see the stuff after it comes off.

For those that have a good silky smooth shine already, this might not be the best thing since sliced bread, but I bought a paint neglected mini (at least the hatch / back bumper). It's fairly cheap ($20) and it was worth it.

I am going to do the rest when I wash the entire thing again (only been a week) when I get back from vacation. Try it out!

Good tips, always nice to see someone gets good results.

The DP folks are always easy sell. Great products and good advice.

Did you get some Hydro? My 07 is a wash and hydro MINI, I need to clay and do a serious base wax soon.

I did vacuum and spray wash my engine compartment today, what a mess after 3K on the AMVIV trip and 500 miles to La Junta and back.

No Hydro for me yet. The DP guy said Epic was the best for my Chili Red. I need to get the base coats down before I go with Hydro. Baby steps....

Hydro is an easy to use polymer that is great for in-between detailing and hiding swirls. I use it after almost every wash. It is the next best thing to Epic and will actually increase the life of your Epic.
Get it, use it, love it.
