Remote Oil Filter

Like many of you, I don't like the OEM oil filter system.
I would like to install a remote oil filter on my R50. Something like this:
http://store.summitracing.com/partde...?part=trd-1028

Some questions;

Is there anywhere on the stock engine (non S) where I can access the oil flow to tap in lines for a remote oil filter ? If so, where ?

If so and a remote oil filter was installed, could the OEM filter be just removed and the OEM filter cavity just left empty with the screw on cover installed ?

Thoughts and ideas would be appreciated.

Moss Mini at one time offered (now discontinued) a spin on conversion kit for the R50. If they were still around you could then use Transdapt oil bypass adapter and the TRD 1028 you mentioned. Another way to go would be the oil bypass adapter that a few Mini venders offer for there remote oil coolers kits. If you had just the adapter you could route your own lines into the TRD 1028 adapter you mentioned. However you would have to remove the original filter mount and fabricate a block off plate. The original mount has a few little pieces in it like a bypass valve and oil pressure switch valve, so just leaving the canister top on without the filter really would not work. Also the fabricated plate would have to have the oil pressure switch in it or you would have to relocate it as well. So it is not as easy as just getting the Transdapt adapters. And one last thing, the location of your new oil filter assembly. There is not to many places when you check for ground clearance or distance from the engine block. Now how do I know all this? I was working on the plate myself.
