R50/53 Being Cheesy Can Be Trouble
Being Cheesy Can Be Trouble
OK, maybe not cheesey. Don't want to insult others who have these...
Since my motorcycle wreck, I have been all about visibility, plus having a car finally there are lots of toys to buy. Here's one that may have been a mistake.
I got some of those tire stem flashy lights... blue to match the Coop. Got home, put them on. Next day, got on the road, heard a weird rattle. Thought it was the lights. Got up to speed, and the flat tire alert came on.
It appears that one of the lights let the air out of my tire, as it refilled and held pressure with no problem. Have not investigated whether something was inside the light that should not have been there.
Good thing I have run-flats, but now the profile looks a bit chewed

just a thought
Just in case you were not aware of it but once the run-flat has been run flat the manufacturer advises to REPLACE tire since running the run-flat when flat damages the side wall requiring another expensive run-flat tire. I wonder who thought that up? Good luck!!!
Ugh. I'll keep an eye on it for now. Throw those darn lights in the trash!
The side is a bit rough looking more than anything. Like when you run against a curb. I can imagine there would be a compromise to the structural integrity of the run-flat mesh, but for goodness sake, it can support the weight of the car, how flimsy can it be? Sounds like the boys in marketing have something to do with that suggestion.
I'd say I should have been smart enough to look at the tire before I left, but with the run flats, they don't really look like anything is wrong. When I pulled over, I couldn't immediately tell which one was the problem.
Check your pressure often. Mario Andretti doesn't do those commercials for his health!
