Can't seem to find the how-to's to perform 3 tasks

New to the Mini scene....so I would really appreciate the help

I have a 2002 Mini Cooper S....so here goes:

#1.
Bought a new JCW hand brake handle and can't get the old handle off....any tips?

#2.
Bought a new JCW shift ****....got the shift "ball off" but the plastic part (collar?)that sits right under the shift **** and has the shift boot attached to it seems "stuck" to the shift rod....how do you remove it?

#3.
How do I remove the air filter box to change the air filter...I can only see 2 screws in the front of the box....anywhere else to unbolt?

Thanks and feel free to provide links.

Anson

For the e-brake handle, you first remove the chrome (or silver as the case may be) trim around the button. You'll need a small screwdriver to depress some clips and pull it straight off. The handle then slips forward.

As for #2, I believe the collar is part of the shift lever.
