SuspensionSprings, struts, coilovers, sway-bars, camber plates, and all other modifications to suspension components for Cooper (R50), Cabrio (R52), and Cooper S (R53) MINIs.
The person I purchased by car from had already put the sway bar on. It has to adjustment "holes". Right now the hole closest to the end of the bar is being used. Is the outermost hole or the inside hole the stiffest setting? Thanks!
what are the handling charateristics of putting it on the stiff setting? Is it as easy as unbolting and putting the bolts through the other holes?
stiffer = less understeer. you may want to do a search about the pro's and con's of less understeer / more oversteer.
changing the setting varies depending on what brand bar you have. some have different types of nuts/bolts. if you know the brand, many, like hotchkiss or alta have install instructions on their web sites that could walk you through it.
Be careful driving if you change the bar stiffness (especially if you have other suspension mods such as more negative front camber). You should test for oversteeer in a parking lot before driving hard on the street/track. You might want to measure the bar thickness to get an idea of how much change you can expect. If the bar is a solid 22mm or hollow 25mm you might get some unexcepted oversteer especially if you lift-off the throttle in a turn. If you have a 19mm bar you will probably be fine.
