Clubman - Stock Window Tint?

Is it my imagination, or are the rear side windows on the stock Clubman tinted darker than the front side windows and windshield? It sure looks that way to me, but maybe it's just a trick of the light...

I don't think the stock Clubmans are tinted at all. I had my dealer do the tint with darker in back, lighter in front to the legal maximum. Back windows can be darker than the front. But I am sure tinting is totally an aftermarket option.

All new cars have some amount of tint in the glass from the factory. It's actually *in* the glass, as opposed to an applied film like aftermarket tint.

Also, it's typical for the factory tint in the rear windows to be darker than the tint in the front windows/windshield.

It would be nice if MINI offered the glass already pre-tinted to much darker colors for the back windows like some of the SUV's, especially for the folks out there who live in states with more stringent tint restrictions. I would pay extra for that option.

I have 28% tints all around in the Clubman. I had them installed before I took delivery of the car. They look great and really help with the heat. I never saw the car without them, so I can't comment on whether the rear glass is darker from the factory. My installer uses Llumar window tint film which is considered to be the best in the market. Lifetime warranty and only paid $150 for the whole enchilada. He also did the front clearbra as well.

I thought that, too, and didn't think to ask whether they had tinted them (which seems unlikely -- my first test drive was very shortly after the dealer had received their first shipment).

By the way, my dealer told me today (when they called to let me know that my MINI had arrived ) that all of their demos are tinted 35% (the legal max here), so I was flat wrong above.

They used to.....I don't know what ever happened to that. I think it only lasted a year or so.

I drove a new '08 Cooper Clubman auto loaner last week and the stock windows seemed to be equal all around. This car had a sunroof too. I will write a brief review of the Cooper Clubman Auto in the coming days.

Hey, be nice OK? That's what I'll be driving for the foreseeable future.

But back to tinted windows... I've been thinking more about this lately for the back and have no idea what something like this costs. Any ballpark figures? Of course I live in an expensive part of the country.

I got my non-clubman Cooper done for $120 and that included all 4 side windows and the rear window. Clubman might be a tiny bit more since it's a tad longer.

That's certainly not a bad price at all. Thank you, I'll have to look into it down the line.

I kinda figured that, at least. Well, I'll probably never get around to it, ya know. But I do think it would look particularly nice - on both our color combinations.

P.S. I just looked at the MINI site and it shows for the Clubman that "darkened rear glass" is standard. http://www.mini.com/com/en/mini_coop...bman/index.jsp - check out the "Complete Range" and see what you think.

I paid $150 for my 28% tints all around, installed, computer cut and lifetime warranty. He also did the clearbra for $450 and used Llumar film for the windows and front end protection. Paid $600 for everything and, as always, did an incredible job while the car was still in the showroom.

I will post some pics the the Clubman after I wash it this weekend!

Otra, I liked the car a lot. I think you'll be very pleased. Personally, still prefer the S, but the "JustACooper" did manage to put a grin in my face.
