03' R53 passenger window issues

Today my MINI's passenger-side window decided not to go down. When I hit the switch I can hear a 'tick' as in, "It's me, the motor. Listen, I still work 'cause I'm making a sound but there might be something else wrong here". Meanwhile, its a total bake in the car bc you can't drive down the highway with only 1 window open without hearing that deafening frequency oscillation.

Anyone have ideas for getting my window to work again (or my talking window motor)? A reset switch?!

Thanks!

the window motor may be stuck. you can dry hitting the door just above the speaker with your fist while using the toggle to see if it frees it up. if that doesn't work and if you can still hear the motor it is probably the cabling inside the door has become bunched up. or, could be the motor going out. had the same issue in my 03 and it was the cabling. you can usually tell if it's the cable if you hear a clunk or tick and a slight "grinding". the cars are notorious for window issues...

if it is the motor and even if you get it freed up by using your fist, it's just a matter of time before it goes again.

dealer cost to replace the window cabling or motor will run you around $400. you already know him so time to call danny my friend. he did my passenger window cables and my drivers door lock in one shot for 1/2 the dealer price.

Beat it like it owes you money. I've never had a problem with the window going up, just down. This happens to my 03 with 97,000 on the clock after it rains or it's had a wash.

Haha! I'll give it a shot! (I see myself being sorry in 20 minutes after the window is stuck in the down position)

Don't get too cocky. Everytime I fix an issue and tell myself, "97,000 miles, I think I'll drive it another 50K" something happens. Yesterday the "Service Engine Soon" light came on . Gee, at least I know it's not the transmission, Had that replaced at 72,000.
These are great cars and I don't let little things get to me. And besides, now I have an excuse to go to the Dealer!
