AutoX Novice School March 29

I know there is a car show on the 29th but the Central Carolinas SCCA is having a novice school at Continental Tire Plant off I-77 at Westinghouse Blvd on March 29th!

I just saw a message that they have plenty of Novice spaces available.

I can't go to either one but wanted to pass it along.

There is one the same day in Baton Rouge - still 4 spots left.

Wife won't let me on the track, says insurance wouldn't pay and she works for the insurance company. I have taken some laps at VIR and Carolina Motorsports Park in Kershaw SC. Hell having a fast car and can only race it on the street!

This is in a parking lot so it is not like having it on a race track. Additionally, you won't get out of 2nd gear so while it is possible, you would have to do something really crazy to have a problem. Safety is 1st and foremost with this group!

I REALLY enjoyed the one put on by CENLA SCCA in Baton Rouge. I was nervous (couldn't sleep, digestive issues) because of how much I know that I don't know - my first car event of ANY kind. Everyone was friendly, helpful, and seemed genuinely happy to see new faces and to share their knowledge. I got to drive a slalom, a curvy course, and finished up the morning with an exercise on launching and how fast a car can be stopped (about 4-5 runs of each). In the afternoon, we put it all together and had a regular (I guess ) autocross. Really cool to engage in a safe, totally legal exercise where you can find the edge, by crossing it repeatedly, of what your car can do.

I HIGHLY recommend it to anyone who likes going fast.
