Steering Stops??

Can someone clear this up for me. I was planning on buying aftermarket rims very soon. 18x7 to be exact. I went to Mini today just to make sure they'd fit...and they said I needed to buy Steering Stops from them so the tires wouldn't rub. They want like $250 (parts and labor) to do the job. I think this is kind of odd because I haven't heard anyone mention these things on the short time I've been on here. Anybody think they are for sure necessary for this size wheel??? Thanks

Possibly, the GP has the stops because of the 18's.

They do rec. the stops if youre putting 18's on but there are PLENTY of people out (I for one) that have 18's and no stops. Still no problems. I have had the same 18's for almost 6years now and no problems.
