Jan/RMW Tune - Worth a 7 hour drive for sure!!!

I drove from Baton Rouge to Dallas for a Jan tune, and may I say that it was definitely worth the drive! I'd like to thank Gnatster (Nathan) for putting it together, and most importantly I want to thank Jan for making my car run better than it ever ran from the factory. My results were 190 hp and 170 ft lbs at the wheels on a Dyno that Jan said was very stingy (the numbers were low for everyone that day) and I must say that driving is believing - the power is so smooth and the throttle response is instant. Best mod for the car!!!

And an interesting note for all fellow modders - All I have on my car is a 15% pulley, CAI, one ball exhaust, and 380cc injectors and I'm making at least 45 hp over stock (remember MINI claims 167 at the crank). But most interesting in this is that I'm making 5 more horses and 10 more ft lbs than my friend who went with me for the tune and he has a 17%, same CAI, 380s, and Miltek exhaust - both Jan tuned. His is an 03 and mine is an 07 Cabrio which basically makes me think that the one ball is as efficient as most if not any catback exhaust (I'm sure going headers back is more efficient) and also that 17% isn't really any more efficient than 15%. Now I don't say any of this to start a big argument, only in the hopes of saving anyone on the fence the money if it's a debate for them. I also realize that MINIs do vary in hp, but I really was expecting him to have a leg up on me so I'm just sharing.

Anyway, thanks again Jan for making my car so fun to drive - you have my business for any future mods!!!

Congrats! Sounds like it was well worth it.
With all this buzz going around, I'm becoming a bit anxious to have a proper tune myself. I'd love to know that all the money spent on mods can be fully harnessed.

You're still a bastard.

I'll guess I'll have to step up to some camber plates and springs now...can't lose 2nd place in the Francisville runs.

And to think, you and Christian were laughing at me about my Jan suggestions.

Let me know when you want to do the brakes. About the only thing I have on you now so I'm reluctant to help (jk ), but I'll be sure to pick up a tanker of penetrating oil for the job . I/we could probably knock it out (fluid, pads, and rotors, if you wanted...you're still under warranty, right?) in under 3 hours.

i'm planning on doing the same mods as you (including a jan-tune). hopefully i'll have the same results! i was wondering what's the reason for adding injectors if you are going with a 15% pulley? i thought that was for 17-19% pulleys.

With a tune, things start to go lean in the upper RPM range.

Nice numbers

FWIW there is a stock 5 hp difference between the 03 and the 07c, just for the sake of comparison.

Yeah, I did know about this - what's interesting is that there was still a 5 hp difference with his mods, and the claims made on the 17% and various exhaust systems would lead one to believe that this shouldn't have been the case.

I'm running JCW but Jan said it didn't matter either way - my buddy has the Helix and he's loving his tune as well!

I just finished the San Jose Cali event with Jan and we had some very good results one of which was mine. The trq starting point is an unbelievable +20 lbs over what I had before. The power is there as soon as you tip the throttle and goes all the way through the end without any hesitation.

My test drive left my heart racing and got me in a state of shock and amazement. I honestly felt scared with the new found power and the pull. Read sig for result.
