R50/53 possible bent strut mount...
possible bent strut mount...
took my car to stealer for first time yesterday..took it in for oil change/service. Had a few lil things fixed. They also replaced pads, rotors and sensors. SA tells me that I have a bent right strut mount. No mushrooming though at all. Says its probably from a deep pot hole or something and that its not covered under warranty obviously. Cost is about 400 bucks to replace. but the car drives perfectly straight, no problems at all. SA told me to just keep an eye on it, but should be ok...
Would a strut brace or reinforcement plates help with this?? Since there is no apparent downside to the way the car drives, can I just put a strut brace or reinforcement plates on it and leave it???
any help or past experience with this would be helpful....

Your car doesn't make any noise when you turn the wheel to full lock one side or the other? I would think you would hear some creaking or moaning from the bearing in there, or the bearing will eventually go bad. I've bent a couple of them over the years.
first time I ever brought the car in for service. I bought it used with about 14K on the clock. It has 28K now.
and no, no noises or creaks when I turn the steering wheel all the way in either direction...
should i replace the strut mount??

If you are still under warranty, ***** a little to your dealer, my dealer replaced both of mine under warranty, and my car is lowered on springs which probably didn't help. Honestly they never even protested, I brought it it, told them the problem and they fixed it.
