R56 JCW Performance Intake Questions

Neither the Exhaust or ECU tuning of the JCW kit interest me that much. But, I am interested in the JCW Intake.

I have been unable to get a close look at the JCW Intake Vs. a stock intake. I am particularly interested in the configuration of the Intake Housing. I also understand that it comes with a pleated paper filter.

Would someone who is familiar please explain in detail (pictures would be great) how the JCW intake & Housing differs from the stock intake?

Colder Air?
Better air flow?
Louder/Quieter?

Thanks for your time.

Buy an Alta and be done with it. The air filter kit is mainly just that, filter witha slightly different box, but from the outside there isn't a difference.

Buy an Alta and be done with it.

Agreed.

Besides, you can't buy the JCW bits by themselves. It's all or nothing.

I wouldn't be surprised to see a few pop up in the market place when JCW owners end up buying the Alta intake!

JCW Engine upgrade - install a different air filter?

Hello,

I have an '07 MCS w/ a JCW Engine upgrade. Would it be good to replace the OEM airfilter for a K&N (or something similar) for a little more breathing room?

Thanks for the suggestions,
Tob.

I fitted a K@N pod into my JCW in take and it made very little difference in performance and sound, nothing worth the money anyway. The only value is it can be serviced which saves you the money of the stock filters at BMW prices.
Get a true performance intake at half the price, the JCW is ok but very conservative. I would hate to guess what it would cost if you could get it. I will be keeping mine as a spare but I have my own on now which I am much happier with.
