Removing & Installing a new shift knob
Easiest way I have found is to position yourself with your knees on the seats straddling the shift **** facing the rear of the car. Put the parking brake on and the gear shift in neutral. Then just yank it off. Some req very little strength, others are a real pain to get off. But it will come off with a good yank.
While in the driver's seat, I stick it in second gear, wrap both hands around it and like others have said, look away when you pull. Some will come off easily and some will take some force.
now once you pull it off, if/when you want to put it back on, will it be just as tigh/stable/secure/etc. as when you took it off. has anyone found that its not quite the same when you put it back?
