Getting a 07 MINI Cooper Classic, questions!

Hi there,

I have decided to lease an 07 MC classic. The MSRP is $22,800. $0 Down, 3.9%, 39 Months, $279 CDN before tax. Also gets a $1,000 Eco Rebate from the Government.

I love this car. Never driven a MC before and the ride is comfortable. The engine note is nice and ripping through the gears is fun.

It's really the most basic MC you can get. Trying to keep the costs as low as possible.

Details:
Chili Red
6 Spd manual
Heated Seats
Fog Lights
Black leatherette
Brushed Aluminum interior
15" 5-Star Spooler Wheels

I'm wondering how good the Mini is in snow, especially driven to ski mountains. I would imagine it's good because of FWD, good handling and the addition of small 15 in wheels. But the tires are all seasons and not DSC just ASR+T. Is there an inexpensive OEM snow chain solution?

I've also looked at getting a roof rack to accommodate 4 snowboards or maybe a cargo box. Also need a bike attachment for the summer. My best guess is that I will be able to fit 3 people max with snowboard gear, 1 rear seat down for gear. Does anyone know the cost of the OEM roof rack? 150 kg limit seems pretty good versus going after market.

Is the base 6 speaker system any good? Is the Sirius brain really around $500? Does the Ipod adapter show the name of the artists and flip through songs on the steering wheel?

Seems that the dealer is charging $400 more for destination then said on their website. I knew a lot about the car that the salesperson didn't. Hopefully getting the car on Friday. Then taking it on a road trip for the weekend!

Cheers!

Happy Motoring! You are getting alomst the same specs as mine. My differences are: I have 15" Rotator Spokes, and a sunroof. The Ipod adapter does show the artists name, and song info. Did you get a multifunction steering wheel? I would assume you did since you asked about scrolling on the wheel, but mine was an upgrade according to my invoice. I paid a 500 prep fee for the car at the dealer, but they "threw-in" the floor mats. I have an aftermarket Sirius radio so not sure on that one. As for handling in the snow, I have had mine out in about 6 inches and it was fine. There are several other posts about winter handling, and snow tires that you may want to search for on the forum.

Why a lease? Do you switch cars every couple years? If you buy you will have something to sell at the end. Though not what you payed, you'll get some return, or at the very least a down payment on the next car. At the end of the lease you get to hand the keys back a walk away with nothing or spend more on what you've already payed for.

yeah hopefully my 06 will be a classic one of these days. Sounds like a MINI thats on the lot that they are offering a special deal on....I still say build your own as its well worth the wait and you dont have to settle for anything less than your own choices. you can do this and still keep the cost down for sure. Good luck

I'd measure to see if your snowboards will fit on only one side of the back seat... you maybe forced into that roof rack if you want more than 2 people in the car...
