first time taking Mini in for service

Hey guys. I am almost due for an oil change. I have a few minor issues with the car also. I am still under warranty, 25K miles. Nearest dealer is about 1hr away. Bought my car used about 4 months ago. 06 MCS. Just trying to figure out how the whole service appointment thing works. Is it like BMW where they give you a free loaner car? Or do I need to figure out transportation for myself after I leave the car there??
sorry if this a newbie question..Just trying to prepare myself.

TIA

Pretty sure that depends on the dealership, I would suggest calling the dealership you're taking your car to and asking about a loaner for the time your car is being serviced. I know with our dealership, (we're benz/acura/linc/merc, but still..) if you need a loaner car while your car is being worked on, it's always best to mention that when scheduling it for service.

call, keep notes.
its (nearly) free.

for regular service (i.e. oil changes) I wait the 30-45min.
I'm not sure if my dealer even will give loaners for that.

I've even dropped the car off, and walked home (THAT is VERY nice!)

For anything else (like your few minor issues) I let them know ahead of time.
On one annoying squeak took them an entire day to take apart and re-assemble everything... they then tell me how long, and ask if I want a loner... which is usually a 2-wk wait.

I also drop the car off with a note with everything I want done and go over it with the SM, so it all gets done, and I don't have to go back.

Call the dealership and make an appointment (that is how it works at mine).
First service took about an hour (oil change and they check a few things)

But ask for one if you can't wait there.

Call, take notes and GET NAMES. My dealer offers loaners for the hour long oil change, but most times I hang out in the lobby with free wifi.

I only asked for a loaner when the MSCS was in for a new roof and a few other odds and ends (turned into a 4-day loaner).

For regular service, hang out at the dealership ! Take an R56 for a test drive. Eat some free donuts. Get on their computers with internet service and talk to NAMers. Check out all the hotties behind the service counter. Talk to some other MINI and Bimmer owners.

Can you tell I'm easily entertained ? Maybe I didn't need that loaner after all.
