Aftermarket Exhaust

Where is a good place to get just an aftermarket exhaust tip to just change the sound of the car a bit?

How does the exhaust tip change the tone of the exhaust? I have a hard time believing that.

It's like air escaping out of a hole, if it's a small hole, it will be high pitched, large hole, it will be lower. So the air if forced through a different shape/size/etc will change how it's heard... Of course not all tips will make that big of a difference and it does mainly rely on the muffler/catalytic converter used.

Right?

i see where youre going with that theory. take off the tips you have now and see how much different the sound is. my guess is you wont notice much difference between with the tips and without the tips. it's the can that's gonna make the changes in note/tone. changing the cat will make a big difference too as well as the header/exhaust manifold

Even if this theory does apply, I doubt you'll be able to hear any difference

Agreed - I think the tip is just too small a portion of the entire exhaust system to make a change in the sound.

If you've got a MINI Cooper you might want to check out the exhaust from the Megan Racing folks. The general consensus seems to be that people are happy with it (after reading through pages of a thread on it).
