How to fix a scratched Rear window???

This morning i looked a my rear window on my new 2007 MC and in the bottom right hand corner there is a scratch. It is not just a surface scratch is is a deep one. It must have been done purposely. it is so deep i am surprised it did not crack. ill see if i can get some good pictures later.

You can buy a scratch removal kit. Eastwood has one that I bought. I haven't used it yet. My 06 has a scratched window...only it's on the interior...from a nasty tint job. Exterior scratches can be removed if they're not too deep...you just have to be careful not to distort the glass or hit your car's paint. Not sure if I'd risk it on a brand new car. Interior scratches can't be fixed, because you'll throw the abrasive all over the inside of your car.

Check your insurance company. Sometimes they pay to have it fixed (so they don't have to replace it with a new one.) ING paid for a stone chip repair for me.

I had scratches on my drivers side window on my other car because it wasn't alligned, I asked the dealer to see what they could do. They had it waxed and it went away. It was pretty deep too, I don't know if this will work on your scratched window.

1st: Go to a reputable glass company and show them the problem and ask them if it can be repaired and if so, how much?

2nd: Call your insurance company and talk to them to see if they will cover the cost of a repair? If not see if they will allow you to use your comprehensive insurance to cover the cost of a replacement. If the insurance company will cover it using your comprehensive coverage then check around, some glass dealers will waive the deductible for comprehensive in order to get your business. Usually the comprehensive is deductible is about $100.

Same deep scratches appeared on the back window of my '07 convertible. Showed it to the dealership and they said "someone" or "something" did it. In older MINI models (can't remember the years) they had problems with alignment & scratching but nothing in any of the newer models. To fix it, they would have to replace the glass...in order to replace the glass, they'd have to replace the top. I've had the top replaced on an Eclipse convertible before and it was NEVER the same again...no one's touching my MINI top!....so the scratches remain. They look like a wild cat scratch.
