R50/53 ? for those with aftermarket alarms
i just recently had an aftermarket system put on my 2003 MCS, the viper alarm actually.
the problem is, when you put the key in the door and turn the alarm goes off as if you push the button. now when i had my 2002 cooper i also had an aftermarket alarm and when you put the key in the door and turned the alarm sounded, which is safer. so my question is, what year is your car and which of the two situations happens when you put the key in and turn it in the door? i'm stuck on the fact that it is the type of system that was put on my car while the guys who did it say that its just the car. either way i want to understand why this is happening so i can see about fixing it..

I've got The Pursuit, made by AudioVox. It works off the MINI remote key, and was recommended to me by my motoring advisor as a much cheaper (but just as effective) alternative to the spendy factory system. It goes on when I lock the door w/ key or w/ remote, and goes off w/ the remote, or when I unlock the car w/ the key. I don't know if it could be programmed to not disable when a key is used in the lock, but since the MINI remote and the MINI key are one and the same, my answer is that if anyone actually gets my key, then they'll be able to take the car. Answer? Don't get your key stolen!!
well the guy who gave me the system said it wasnt good cause if someone made a copy of my key then they could easily get in and i told him the keys are digitally encoded and he said it doesnt matter.. i dont really believe him...
well the keys might have a chip in them - but that is only for the ignition..not the doors - thus they can still get in steal stuff or try to steal it.
PS - you have any free time latey to make me some of that great furniture of yours?
