Anyone else have armrest problems?

Hello my good Alabama friends!

Does anyone else have an OEM armrest that won't stay shut? I've been researching it on the sight, but switching out to a Euro armrest seems rather daunting!

My armrest cover is driving me crazy as well. I've thought about cementing it in place or maybe filling its storage space with foam rubber which would press against the inside of the cover. I do not use it for storage. There's a posting indicating that it will remain shut if you slide the cover back and then guide it back closed so it grabs its track properly and makes a tight fit against its base. I have not tried that.

No armrest here. But why would switching it out to a another be daunting? Daunting is having to peel apart the glovebox door to repair the latch, in order to save the almost $300 for a new door.

Try this:

It looks daunting to me because you have to replace the center console (the piece that surrounds the parking brake) as well and re-connect the flat tire monitor.

Trying to line it up on the tracks did not work for me. I think a piece of plastic is broken on one of the four pieces that holds it in the tracks.

I'm going to the Mini dealer in Atlanta today to get more info on it! I'll report back!

Most of the MINI just snaps together, and therefore apart. I've had the console out to run wiring under it for an aftermarket NAV/MP3. Its not a big deal. But I found it helps to have "The Book", which usually tells how to get things apart and together (door cards, interior trim, seats, dash, bumpers, etc.). I can email the applicable info if it comes to that.

Things certainly haven't gotten any better on the R56. The arm rest is crap.

I fixed it with a new cover! Those plastic pieces in the back have to be intact for it to stay closed. When it is closed, both pieces must stay in the track, otherwise, one is above the track and when you rest your arm on it, it snaps off. The new cover was $104, tho.
