MINI badge vandalized!!

I just found out today that my front badge was vandalized. The area where it is suppose to be black was scraped off. Does anyone know if I can buy another badge from the dealership? I'm very sad that this happened in my town, I never had to worry about my car. But this goes to show that things can happen. I don't know who did it, but I think they were trying to take off the badge but couldn't and decided to just scratch it all off.

Are you sure it was vandalism? The logo on my '03 did the same thing front and back...the clear film w/ black imprint failed and just popped off. I never found it...must have come off when I was driving. The entire emblem was replaced under warranty. If yours looks like it's been tampered with, then that's a different deal...but that's what happened to me.

Dang, WTF is wrong with people? Just be thankful the a**hat didn't damaged the surrounding sheet metal by prying off the entire badge with a screwdriver.

Or the piece just fell off by itself? I believe that's a common occurance with the badge on the steering wheel.

I'm sure your dealer has one in stock.

someone tried to steal both my front and back badges, and scratched up all around both emblems pretty bad. And they didn't get the badges either. Was told it can't really be touched up, only repaint...

I saw traces of black left on the emblem, so I figured someone had to of scratched it off.

I looked around the edges, and luckily no scratch marks from them trying to take it off.

But if I were to take it off to put on a new one should I get some dental floss?

Had one of the BMW ones break. Like yours the plastic was all busted out. I believe it was from water freezing under there and cracking as it happened in the winter.

But I can't see how the emblem can just break like that in such a short amount of time. I also didn't drive my car in the freezing rain or snow this week, it just sat in my school's parking deck. The emblem was fine then, until I parked it on the streets in my town.

My rear emblem broke, too. A chunk of the black area was just missing one day. I have no idea when or how it happened, but it didn't all come off at once. The first little bit was at the edge, just at the bottom corner of the second "I" in "MINI". It was triangular and about 1/4" on each side. I took the rest of the "MINI" circle part off.

I'm going to have both front and back covered in CR vinyl by Lagston at AMVIV 5 in March.

I am having trouble trying to comprehend and picture someone sitting there and scratching at a badge on your car...I'm gona side with the 'broken badge' rather than vandals

I guess it could be a broken badge, but there was no signs at all of it going to break. I just thought it was vandals because I saw traces of black when I was cleaning my car. Either way I'll have to get another one from the dealership. I tried searching on ebay, but all the results were for older models. Does anyone know how much the badge would cost at the dealership?

Going to go with broken. There is a BMW that sits at a gas station by me that has a badge that looks just like yours.

You are not alone.

My rear badge did exactly the same thing and it was just a case of the black popping off.

It took a little while but I DID find one on ebay and I have seen others on here as well.

BTW there is no internal retainer for the badge. it is just positioned with pins and held on with double sided tape.

You really don't have to access it from the inside panel like I did. Just wedge the older piece with a thin screwdriver supported with something soft that won't mar the paint and gently pry it off from the double sided tape.

Apply double sided tape to the backside of the new badge and press..

Viola!

easier than I woulkd have thought

We have someone in our local club with this exact same problem. I think he did a custom vinyl overlay to fill in the hole.
