Hi All,

Do you install the Mini Security system by yourself? How was the installation? Or is it better to let the dealer do it? Could you share your experience with me please? Thank you.

From what I remember reading before, the alarm install was relatively easy. Use the "search" function just above (next to the forum name, not the one all the way up top on the right). Search for "Alarm Install".

This topic has been discussed numerous times. You should be able to find something pretty easily.

I know some people had posted instructions as well.

Just finished my install today.

X-tremely easy on my 2003 MCS.

All wiring is in place, just do and undo a few screws and bolts and bingo, you're done.

Now to contact my dealer to set the computer on the car to recognize it. $50 & 1/2 hour.

What if your dealer won't program it for you if you install it. Like mine. Wouldn't install the alarm if I bought it from another dealer. Set price, installed.

I would find another dealer if it is possible. Every dealer should do this for you. You could always contact MINI customer service. There is no reason they shouldn't program it for you. Sounds like they are trying to ream you for some $$.

BMW and MINI should have good customer service for their reputation. Sometimes. it feels that they try to over charge you. I have talked with East Bay MINI about activate my alarm. From this forum, most of dealers charge half hour of service. But that dealer wants to charge for full hour. I am new to this "BMW" types of car. I understand they have higher price. But it should be fair.
