Checking in on upcoming Mini technology...

I know all the hoopala now is with the clubman, updating the cabrio and development of the colorado, but what ever happened to the AWD version being tested by Getrag or a DSG type transmission? The Mini's a great car, I've enjoyed both models I've had for their usability, drivability and size but the R56 as it is just isn't worth the upgrade for me from the R53.

Thoughts? Anything on the horizon I should be excited or waiting for? Or are those two things really so far out and/or non planned?

if you believe this article... AWD is coming

http://www.leftlanenews.com/report-b...i-in-2008.html

I like driving my daughter's mini... I just don't like the FWD torque steer....it's not bad... handles great...personal preference

As for the performance/weight etc... getrag said the AWD is 10% faster on the track <shrug>

You can always add power.... traction is usually a different story...

I'm considering an EVO to replace one of my other cars... if mini makes this... I'd have to consider it...
