Verdict from California Speedway crash

I'm somewhat disappointed with the ruling. Nobody is responsible for their own behavior anymore, I guess. Hopefully this won't make track fees too much more expensive...

Wow, that is mighty interesting...
Ugh, I fear what the repercussions from this kind of ruling could be...

This wasn't a ruling it was just a settlement, After reading the article the driver who lost his life and wound up with a dead passenger pays 49% The track pays 41% Porsche pays 8% and the driver who didn't know how to drive pays 2%. On the surface it all seems somewhat fair.
However it would not surprise me if the Porsche driver's estate winds up suing the track and Porsche themselves. To recoup some of that settlement.
they had to pay.
Regardless, anyone driving at a track like this and going the speeds they were going, should be very aware of the dangers of the track and the limits of their equipment before asking anyone to ride with them.

Hearing info from from people that were at the event. It appears that write-up is strongly skewed for the plaintiff's case. People at the event tend to place the burden on the track (wall placement, and track configuration), and FOC for gross negligance.

-Porsche should pay $0. A car isn't defective because someone can't drive it.
-Ferrari driver entering track should pay $0. The layout of the entry should not cause a driver pulling out onto a track into a straight on the "racing line".
