I noticed in the sun yesterday that there are some deep scratches on the rear window of my 07 convert. Like someone took a handful of rocks and rubbed it across (hopefully no one did!) but that's what it's like. The convertible top has never been that dirty when I've put it down and unless there were rocks in the window cleaner at the gas station, I am always careful when using those...otherwise I always clean at home. The dealer said something similar has happened in 05 convertibles but nothing since then. Anyone?

 

I have heard of it happening in early convertibles -- and of dealers replacing the windows under warranty (you can do a search on this forum and you'll find the discussions). The top didn't have to be dirty to cause this . . . it's enough that dirt get into the mechanism (which can easily happen as you drive along with the top down).
I can't speak as to whether this was really fixed in later models or not.
