What to do in the UK?

I will be leaving for the UK in a few days and thought I would visit the factory, so I sent an email and got the following response.

"Thank you very much for your interest in our MINI plant visitor programme.

Every year we get more than 45,000 requests from all over the world to visit the MINI Plant. This is by far more than we can accommodate. Currently we are fully booked until the end of January 2008. We time our tours around the production planning and we plan three months ahead. We kindly ask you to contact us again at the end of November."

So I figured since I'm there I can go to a taping of Top Gear............the first show is Nov 7th and I come back on the 4th...........CRAP!

I need to plan way ahead next time..........

To be honest, visiting the MINI factory wouldn't even make my list of things to do in the UK.

If you're a history buff like I am, a month in the UK wouldn't be enough to cover things.

where in the UK? England? Ireland? Scotland?

Even if you can't get into the factory, Oxford is well worth visiting.

Yeah I know.......I've been there many times and have family there. Actually going for a wedding and have a week to hang out. Might go to the continent if I get a great deal. Just figured I would visit the factory.

Do something more than I did on the way to and from Berlin. Sitting in an airport for like 8 hours SUCKS!!! They told me that it was not enough time to really do anything and make it back in time for the flight. Good thing that it is a giant shopping mall. Too bad that on the trip back I had no money, (after spending a month in Berlin.)

Good luck finding something to do.
