Massachusetts Registration Renewal

Anybody else hit this problem? I tried renewing my registration via the 'net today, but it failed, and I had to call the RMV for support.

It turns out that the make of my car (MINI) was invalid (even though it's been registered as a MINI for the past three years). They changed it to BMW and processed the renewal. I argued that it isn't a BMW, but you can't argue with the RMV.

Technically, the MINI should be registered as a MINI (just like a Corvette should be registered as a Corvette, not as a GM). But as you note, you can't argue with a bureaucracy.

And in many states' DMV systems, the MINI is actually listed as "MNNI", for some reason.

I didn't know that about Corvettes, though - they're really registered as "Corvette" and not "Chevrolet"?

In California, MINIs are listed under MNNI just like what Scott said!

Same in North Carolina (MNNI) I thought it was a Typo.
