Homecoming anyone?
Homecoming anyone?
Last month, I was refereeing a football game at Camas Valley, a 1A school on Highway 42 west of Roseburg. When I pulled into the school parking lot, there was another Mini sitting there.
I left a business car on the windshield, inviting the owner to drive with the Roseburg group the following day to Crater Lake. I got a call a couple of days later. It turned out the car belonged to the new Camas Valley superintendent, who told me her car had been a hit among students at the K-12 school.
She said several students asked her whether they might be able to get a group of Minis together to drive the homecoming queen candidates around the track during halftime of their football game on Saturday, Oct. 20.
The game starts at 1 p.m., with halftime at about 2 p.m.
If anyone is down this way that day and wants to participate, let me know. We have cars for the queen candidates, but figured we'd just add any extra cars to the procession and have a parade.
Two years ago, I worked their homecoming game when they had a group of miniature horses pulling individual carriages. Last year, they had Harleys to escort the girls around the track. I love how they're always looking for something different and how this idea came from the students themselves.

We only have one in this area ourselves. The rest of the candidates will have to ride in the hardtops. We should have some sunroofs, so maybe at some point they can stand up and wave through the roof.
Thought I would follow up - I hate to see a dangling thread
We had a great time last weekend! Of course it didn't rain too hard until half-time when the girls came out in their dresses! It was definitely 'tops up' weather for our lone cabrio! The girls were glad the heaters work well in the MINI's. There are some more pictures on our club site at http://www.umpquamini.com/index.htm

We have actually been asked to do an encore performance at another local high school this Friday night. If anyone is down this way they will be meeting at the Dairy Queen in Winston at 5:45.
But alas I will not be joining them this time as my 4 week old baby has decided a trip to the hospital was in order
( BTW - I am talking about my MINI)

Debbie,
Thanks for posting. I'm glad everything went well. Guess I should leave town more often, if we get back-to-back requests that way. Of course, by the time I get back on Sunday, all of the homecomings will be over.
Hope your car isn't too ill and that it's back on the road soon.
