I would usually say Rubber - just because they're easier to keep clean - but the Carpet ones we have in the Mini are wonderful. They fit so well and don't even move or slip unlike other ones I've experienced in my past cars.

I've since taken it out and vaccumed to clean and it was so easy. I prefer the Carpet mats in the Mini.

I suggest going with rubber, you never know when you'll end up with a liquid spill. I drive to Starbucks religiously to do courtesy coffee runs at 1 am for my co-workers, it's alot easier to clean up messes and you dont have to worry about carpet stains. Rubber is especially better during the rain/snow seasons, since you're more likely to track in dirt/mud into your car.

I have really bad allergies, and tend to sneeze A LOT...so I bought rubber mats... lol.. to keep the "gunk" from the carpet... when you just have most random sneeze...

probably too much info...

but I also have an enclosure for my hookah, and prefer the rubber, in case a coal falls off while I'm driving LOL ...

No I don't smoke on the way to work, but if I'm going out of town or something... it's nice

I allways end up getting both. I like the feel of the carpet mats, but swap them out for rubber mats like the "hexomat" in the winter to catch all the sand and water.

I'm with rockridge on this one. I always trash my floor mats because I'm always coming out of the field tracking mud in and out. So, to remedy this I'm getting the rubber ones for when I go to the field and when we go out on a date or whatever, I'll throw in the black and white pinstripe ones

I have the carpet, I like them because they dont slip, look good and are relatively easy to clean with a shake or vac.

Have the dealer provide the carpet set which is about $95.00, then this winter buy the front rubber mats for 50-60 bucks.

I have both for the change of seasons or change in where I am motoring. I have gotten to where I leave my rubber ones in most all the time and the carpet ones are for something special.

+1 but I would buy the JCW mats instead of carpet (if you like checkers)

Like everything else, I prefer a smooth, clear track over carpet. So, if it were me, I'd go with the rubber - it is after all, easier to keep clean when liquids or water get spilled on them.

I got the 'S' rubber mats and they slide around like crazy. Almost useless. I have to find some hooks or something to keep them in place.

I have carpet because they black-out the floor nicely, fit well, and lend a more up-scale touch. That said, I don't track in much dirt, never have drinks in my MINI, and don't deal w/ any snow/slush/muck. I do like the idea put forward of getting both, especially if you have winter to deal with.

Ruber mats here and I love the look and the ease of cleaning. I have not had any slipping problems.

I always wondered who used the rubber ones. I guess it depends on your area. We used to use them all the time in the north... but in the South... carpet all the way. BMW/MINI has a good system for keeping them locked in place.

Also, I am probably super **** when it comes to keeping them clean. Mine always look new even after years of use.

We have the rubber floor mats. They're just so much easier to clean. When we bought our first new car (an 02 Trooper), we got them to replace the carpet ones they came with the car. We've replaced the rubber mats once because of wear-through from the driver's heal. Otherwise they're great.

We still have the carpet mats. When we sell the car, I'm sure the new owners will finally get some use out of them!

I have rubber mats. Rubber will clean up easier but everything shows on them. With either make sure to get the factory hold down pads to keep them from slipping. For some reason my dealer did not mention them to me and I'm still pulling the rubber mat up every other time I get in the car. Also the passenger mat does not have a factory securing pad present. Sunday my wife deposited a large hunk of dirt on my carpet as her mat had moved forward somehow.

I think I'm going to get a good pair of Coco mats like I had in my previous BMW. They were the heaviest coolest mats I've every had. Rarely looked dirty and never slipped.

I got a full set of carpet (front and back) but got a set of front rubber mats that I throw in when it's going to be raining for more than a day or so.

I got the rubber 'cause they're smooth and a bit more slippery and my foot doesn't get caught when clutching in and out. I'm not sure if that would happen with the carpet mats but seems like it would. So I guess there's no wrong choice here, it's just what you prefer.

I got the rubber ones for the front and back thrown in.
They are very nice with emblem and I think they will be better for the winter or wet weather. Go rubber. Try it you'll like it.

I got the carpet. When the dealer asks if you want something that costs $50 or $95 free, which do you choose?

You can always swap them later...
