Helix Customer Service: 2nd to NONE...

I called Eric at Helix last Monday on a whim looking for a place to do some work to my car that Friday. I would need my wilwood kit installed among other random things. The problem was that I can't get down there in time during the week to get the work done, so I needed it to be on Friday because that was one of my days off from work. The only day off, incidently, before my next track day. So, I think I was speaking to Ralph, we scheduled the appointment for that Friday. Amazing.

I get a call the next day from Eric saying that he double-booked the time and couldn't fit me in. Crap. We talked for about 10 minutes trying to figure out ways to make this work; it was clear that Eric wanted to rectify the error and perform the work on my car. I understood then that he was different than other outfits who would just say tough shi*. At this point, I'm disappointed in the schedule conflict, but still impressed by Eric. Then he blew me away.

He offered for me to drop the car off during the week (tonight) after work, and for me to take HIS car until the work was done. What!? This hit me from left field. I was, and am, amazed by Eric's dedication to his customers and his ability to epitomize what the MINI community is all about.

When I got to Helix tonight, his R56 was waiting for me. Truly amazing.

Moral of the story? If you're at all anywhere near philly (I'm not that close) and you desire the best in customer service, Helix is it.

ps - impressions of the r56? It's a lot better lowered.

OK, I drove from NM to Philly just for the Helix treatment, and I was not disappointed. Eric and Ralph are just the best guys you could hope to work with. They had a bit of trouble getting my MINI to take the GIAC flash, but they stuck with it until things were right.
You could do a lot worse than to have Helix work on your MINI.

Yea I don't want to give the impression that loaners are a normal thing there I just want to highlight an above and beyond effort.

I first met Eric back in 02. In this day and age it's absolutely amazing to find someone who's a great mechanic, honest and trustworthy, treats your car properly, and also happens to be a really great guy. What cracks me up is when I see something on the Helix site, ask Eric about installing it on my car, and he says something like "Nah, you don't need that..."
