I've read several posts re: shorty antennas in the Interior and Exterior Mods sections on this site already. Great info. but I'm looking for Denver area specific advice.

I'm actually looking for Denverites who have swapped out their stock antenna and what did they purchase? Since reception quality is different throughout the country.......what someone bought in Boston may not work as well in Denver.

Any suggestions from my local Denverites on what shorty antennas have worked best for them as it relates to reception in this area.

Thanks, in advance, for any suggestions you may have.

I had a shorty antenna and didn't notice any difference in reception around town (AM or FM). If the signal was weak (say out in Sterling) then it might be an issue, but in the Metro area I didn't have any problems.

I'm back to stock now though, because I like the R/C car look.

I don't live in CO, nor am I a RF engineer, but I believe that if constructed properly an antenna can be virtually any length (certainly within the 18" to 6" we're talking about here) and work just as well. The key is whether the antenna is the proper length for the desired frequency...and length is actually determined by the length of the conducting wire which can be coiled to various external lengths. So, this means that the "shorty" antenna I have in MA should work just as well in terms of picking up whatever FM signals there are whether I'm in MA or CO or wherever.

I'm sure that someone else will chime in with a more technical/correct explanation. I have the Honda Element antenna, and it works great!

I am running a Honda Element antenna right now. I've only used it a little, but it seems to work fine. I haven't noticed any difference in reception.

I have a shorty antenna that I am not using right now (I wanted some shorter). I'd sell it for $10 if you are interested. It works fine in the Denver area. Here's a link: http://www.mossmini.com/Shop/ViewPro...eIndexID=37435 It looks like antenna A. It is plastic, not billet.

I have one like the item Owen is selling that has been on for about 4 months. The reception seems about the same as with the stock. I also want to find something shorter [to fit under the car cover without removing the antenna] and am leaning towards the Honda S2000 one.
