JCW aero without rear fogs?

HI all - my first post!

It seems to me that the JCW aero kit requires rear fog lamps. Can someone confirm this? After seeing all of the great photos of owner's rides, as well as pics in the JCW catalog, I've yet to see a picture of the JCW aero kit without rear fogs. Even the aero kit install guide drawings imply the requirement of the fog lamps. Are they required?

I recently ordered my MCS with the intentions of having the VPC install a JCW aero kit, but I didn't order rear fogs. Even for $100, I don't need rear fogs so I didn't order them.

Are there black-out plates that I can use in place of the rear fogs? I hope I'm not out of luck, although I'm sure I can fashion something up from my shop if I have to.

Thanks a million! I've enjoyed reading all the posts here and it seems like there's a lot of knowledge that I can tap into.

I saw someone post theirs without fogs a while ago:

looks like theres a fill in piece? I dont know if thats standard or some custom job though. Im still debating the rear fogs myself, along with hoping a new diffuser piece comes out...or at least changing the diffuser to be unpainted black plastic by default.

I was at the dealer today, and they have an S in the showroom with the JCW aero kit and without the rear fogs. There are just black inserts where the lenses go.

haha sweet that's my LaB/B cooper with the JCW kit. Unfortunately I don't have rear fogs and I think I'd prefer the kit with them but several people have commented that it looks cleaner... I think they're just being nice.

They use the same black inserts that come with a stock mcs without fogs. I think you can order the rear fog housings for around 50 bucks each from the dealer and just use them in place of the black inserts.

Intendoe - Yeah, I figured that I could buy the housing/lenses, but I'll do that later if I don't like the look.

Thanks all for the information. After seeing japtor's earlier post with the pictures confirmed it for me. Although not a super clean look, it seems that the fogs aren't required.

I think you should do it the other way around. Get it with the rear fogs ($100) and then if you don't like them, buy the black plastic inserts (~$10). That way the wiring is there if you ever change your mind again. Plus you could sell the fogs and recover some of the $100. Just my .02 cents.
