It has been recommended to me that I install a Mini electric power steering pump in my Boxster race car, as the Porsche cup electric pump is $1500, and is just a relabeled VW Polo pump, which you can't get in the states.

I've read more than a few posts about p/s pump failures in the Minis - is it that prone to breakage, or is it just the isolated few that are more vocal about it?

Also, it appears that there is no attached power steering fluid reservoir, but also the parts lists for Mini never show a fluid reservoir available, so where is this mysterious part??
