i never really liked the hk system. i bought the car used, so it was a trade off. finally i tired of it, and replaced the whole thing.

first off, removing the hk:






i replaced the 6x9s with polk audio 3 way 6x9s ( db691) and the doors with polk audio as well:





they were driven by an amp i mounted under the px seat. with the styrofoam out, the amp fits perfect:


under the driver's seat another amp went in to power an infinity 10" sub. i debated a custom enclosure, but i frequently need the space. so i went with something i can remove and put back in easily and quickly:



picked the panasonic for a head unit as it is an excellent color match:



after reading people's nightmares with engine noise, i used quality, shielded cables throughout, started it up, and voila, no engine noise what so ever. dynamated about all the exposed metal, and no rattles coming out either. couldn't be happier with the sound, and just thought i'd share. and if anyone is looking for an hk amp or speakers, pm me, i've got some i don't need.

 

i just happened to be brousing the forums and came across your post about having replaced your entire HK ststem... i have been looking for a HK Amp to replace the failed unit in my '04 cooper s... haev you sold yours yet? if not
how much would you like to get for it ? i will buy it...

I would like to buy the 2 front door speakers. The lower ones. 5.5 or 6 inch, not sure about the size. How much for both?
